Academic Plans
Planning your high school courses is an important step toward graduation and preparing for college and career opportunities after high school. Use the information below to understand GBHS graduation requirements and recommended college entrance requirements.
California Colleges
RJUHSD has partnered with CaliforniaColleges.edu, California’s official college & career planning platform. Student accounts are active with access to tools for 4-year academic planning and a-g college planning.
Activate your student account: Single-step login with Google using your student Gmail account.
Parents/Guardians may also register for an account using their student’s STATE Student ID.
- Find your student's state ID in Homelink/Aeries under Demographics, click the General tab.
- The State Student ID number is generally 9 digits long. DO NOT use your GBHS Student ID number.
Graduation Requirements for All GBHS Students
To earn a high school diploma from Granite Bay High School, students must:
- Pass all required graduation courses
- Earn a minimum of 260 credits
- Pass the Personal Finance Course and Exam (completed online through Canvas)
District Graduation Requirements
English – 4 Years Required
Students must complete:
- English 9
- English 10
- English 11
- English 12
Social Science – 3 Years Required
Students must complete:
- World Studies or AP World History (10th grade)
- US History or AP US History or IB History of the Americas (11th grade)
- Government & Economics (12th grade)
Mathematics – 2 Years Required
Students must complete:
- Minimum of 2 years of math
- Must include Integrated Math 1 (IM1) or higher
Science – 2 Years Required
Students must complete:
- 1 year of Life Science
- 1 year of Physical Science
Physical Education – 2 Years Required
Students must complete:
- PE 9
- PE 10 or approved PE option
Health & Wellness – Required
Students must complete 9th Grade Health & Wellness (10 units)
Visual & Performing Arts / World Language - 1 Year Required
Students must complete at least one year of:
- Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA)
- World Language
Electives
Students must complete additional elective credits to meet the 260 total credit requirement
Electives may include:
- Additional English, Math, Science, World Language, Visual or Performing Arts
- Career Technical Education
UC/CSU College Entrance Requirements (“A–G” Requirements)
Students planning to attend a University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) should complete the following requirements with grades of C- or better.

NCAA Eligibility Requirements
Students interested in playing sports at the college level through the NCAA should meet with their counselor and plan carefully to meet eligibility requirements.
Typical NCAA expectations include:
- 4 years of English
- 3 years of math
- 2 years of science
- Additional approved college-prep coursework
Academic Planning Tips
Recommended College Preparation Path
Students interested in four-year colleges and universities are encouraged to:
- Take challenging courses each year
- Complete at least 3–4 years of math
- Complete 2–3 years of world language
- Enroll in AP, Honors, or IB courses when appropriate
- Maintain strong grades throughout high school
