Class Description: This is the Media Program of Study course 1 of 3. Media Production is the introductory course of the Media Program of Study. The course is the entry level course in which students learn the to use video cameras and edit video in Adobe CC Premiere Pro and After Effects. Coursework follows California State CTE Standards in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment: Production and Managerial Arts sector and the Adobe curriculum framework. The course focuses on news-gathering learn to communicate effectively by writing scripts and storyboards, project planning, and editing a variety of products. Technically, students learn how to operate video and audio equipment, including cameras, various types of microphones, mixers, sound processors, and computer applications. This course also introduces students to studio production in the GBHS TV Studio. This class prepares students for the Film Production course and the Advanced Media Production course. There are materials costs associated with the class. Students will need to obtain a class 10 SD memory card and headphones. The instructor will give you specific information within the first week of the course.

Class Description: This is the Media Program of Study course 2 of 3. This course produces the Video Bulletin for the Granite Bay Today website. Students also film and produce other projects like the “Every 15 Minutes” video (on even years), the GBHS Promo video, End of the Year video as well as produces videos of the Dance Shows and other school events. Students will apply the skills learned in Media Production to write scripts, film, produce, and edit to the production of projects, film, and broadcasts in the GBHS Studio. Students choose an area of video produc on to focus to build their personal video reels. Students will learn to work in production teams as directors, producers, on-air talent, audio engineers, switchers, graphics technicians, etc., as they produce video content. The course can offer a wide range of outside of the classroom professional opportunities, internships in the field of video production and film, and live video broadcasting. The class will also participate in the STN (Student Television Network) annual convention and competions. Students will produce online video reels of their completed work as an assignment. There are materials costs associated with the class. Students will need to obtain a class 10 SD memory card and headphones. The instructor will give you specific information within the first week of the course. Extra outside class me will be needed to complete projects. Students are encouraged to take this course multiple times.
All new students will go through an application and screening process that includes faculty screening. The course requires trust, reliability, honesty, and appropriate behavior of the student. Students must sign and follow a Code of Conduct agreement to remain in the course.
Course Title - Media Management

Class Description: This is the Media Career Pathway course 3 of 3. Media Management is the Capstone course for the Media Career Pathway. The course is an extension of Advanced Media Production course and available to students who have been chosen to be in a leadership position. The Media Management course occurs during the same period as the Advanced Media class which allows Media Management students to be leaders of the Advanced Media students as well as be participants in the Advanced Media class. In the course students will lead other students, prepare and plan outside of class hours for the next day or event, hold meetings and complete leadership tasks. Students will need to be able to spend extra time outside of the class period to complete tasks. Students must be a positive role model, follow the direction of the program facilitated by the teacher, and be a friend to all other students. Students will have to demonstrate proper skills in organization, time management, communication, planning, conflict management, project management, motivation, and decision making. Leadership positions include but are not limited to: Producer, Content Producer, Studio Director, Studio Crew (Technical Director, Floor Director, Camera, Playout, Graphics, Teleprompter), Editor, Social Media Producer, Classroom Leader, End of the Year Producer, Every 15 Minutes Producer & Editor, School Promotions, and Live Broadcasting.
To be considered, students must have completed the Advanced Media application form located at www.GraniteBayMedia.org and have answered the Media Management question indicating their interests in the course. Students must have demonstrated some previous leadership abilities to be chosen to be enrolled in the class. Students will be contacted to arrange an interview with the teacher.
